It was a hardware prototype created by Michael Arrington, Louis Monier, and Fusion Garage (Singapore based Design Studio) aimed to construct a low cost tablet personal computer for web surfing. Project was scheduled to Start in July 2008. Initial estimated cost of tablet was 200$ and its first prototype A or beta model was launched in August 2008. Prototype B has 12” inch LCD screen, VlA Nano CPU, Linux, Ubuntu and a web browser. On November 30, 2009, CrunchPad project has dead due to disagreement between Arrington and FusionGarage.

Try Google Chrome os

Internet Giant Google  launched chrome os but its open source which is available for download and you can test it and customized according to your requirement. Full version may be launched in first quarter of 2010.

You need a virtual box software which is free and available for Macs, PCs, and Linux. First of all you need a image of chrome os and you can download it from this torrent . In mac you don’t need any software to extract it but in windows you need Win Rar. After downloading chrome you will need virtual box for whatever os you are running on. For installing google chrome os you can register (or decline).

You will be met with a screen like this.

Press Next

For operating system select whatever you have os and its version.

Choose how much memory to allocate to this virtual machine.

You don’t want to create a new hard disk, instead, you want to use an existing hard disk. Don’t choose one from the drop down menu either — you’re going to want to hit the folder icon just to the right of that to enter the ‘virtual media manager

Now you have to find the Chrome OS image you downloaded earlier.

Press Select

Make sure ‘use existing hard disk’ is checked and hit next

Press Finish

Press start. may be screen go black but for a few sec only

Once you’re in, you’ll see a splash screen for ‘Chromium’ . To login, you’ll need to enter a valid Google Account

 ID.

Its like a google chrome browser but its different from chrome. It provide bookmark manager, battery lifeindicator and option menu.

Google to launch Chrome OS

Internet Giant ready to launch its Computer Operating system after successful launching of Web Browser Google chrome. The Chrome OS, designed initially for low-cost net books, will offer its program code to developers across the globe and create another ‘open source’ competition for Microsoft and Linux Google assures boot-up time of the operating system should be minimum compare to windows , linux and other operating system. It should be like a TV where you switch it on and voila your programmes start right away. This is really the promise of Google’s operating system, Chrome. Google are trying to make an operating system that is fine tuned to the browser and supports whatever it needs and trying to marry other stuff to give to the user.
