Internet Could run out of Web Address next Year


The world could well run out of Internet addresses next year, unless urgent action is taken to switch to a new generation of net addresses, the European Commission has warned.

According to Commission IPv4  is currently used technique which is used to assign web address  needed to  meliorate to new Internet Protocol version IPv6.  IPv6 is ameliorate  technology  because it hugely increase available address it supports 340 trillion, trillion, trillion web addresses .


Few companies are ready to migrate but few are not interested in migrating from current to future technology. Commission told only 17% of European player migrated to new technology . IPv4 uses 32 bit address scheme which enable web to support around 4.3 billion web address but due to increasing of sites we may switch to new regime IPv6 which uses 128 bit address scheme creating billions of possible new web addresses.

Commission said that “Only by ensuring that all devices connected to the internet are compatible with IPv6 can we stay connected and safeguard sustainable growth of the Internet and the global digital economy, now and in the years to come."
